Your private wine tour begins with pick up from your requested location and a drive across the Heretaunga Plains, the fruit bowl of New Zealand. You will be driven to the top of Te Mata Peak,404 mts above sea level . From this spectacular limestone crag, you can see back to Napier, the sea beyond and on a clear day, the volcanic cones in the center of the North Island.
Te Mata Estate
One of New Zealandís most high regarded wineries, Te Mata Estate is notable because it has hand harvested grapes from its vineyards, and produced, blended and labelled its small-batch premium wines in the original winery and buildings since 1896. The third generation of the Buck family is helping work the land.
Te Mata Coleraine, is New Zealandís most famous red wine, a classic blend of cabernet sauvignon, merlot and cabernet franc. Coleraine is not often on tasting but its little brother Awatea, usually is. You get to a taste a selection of both red and white wines.
Craggy Range Winery
Craggy Range is described as a national vinous treasure, Craggy Range produces consistently brilliant wines that some consider the finest and best value in the world. Under winemaker Matt Stafford, they are crafted in small batches in two separate wineries ( one for whites , one for reds )
You will experience their Prestige seated tasting that will included, Sophia a Bordeaux blend, Le Sol a Syrah and Aroha a Pinot Noir, all their flagship reds. At the conclusion of the one hour tasting your cellar door person will conduct a guided tour of their under ground barrel hall. This tour is somewhat dependent on cellar door tasting pressure.
Black Barn Bistro luncheon
Black Barn is located on a slopping hillside overlooking a trellis of leafy grapevines to vineyards and farmland, and beyond to rolling hills in the Western Hawkes Bay. Your luncheon will consist of a choice of any 2 items off their menu and a glass of wine to suit. This bistro is highly rated and a must do for visitors to The Bay.
Trinity Hill Estate
In the heart the world-famous Gimblett Gravels wine-growing district, Trinity Hill produces single estate grown wines. These reflect the brands philosophy a small but carefully crafted range of fine wines that come with an assurance of constituency and quality throughout. Your tasting here will be your last before returning you to your pick up location.
